GREEN RIBBONS
My favorite teacher used to huddle us round, closely gathered in the coat closet, trying to make use of the only available darkness on hand. There, he read us stories. Stories from the likes of In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories, Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark and More Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark all by Alvin Schwartz. I took from these tellings, The Green Ribbon. A story I didn’t shake the feeling of for some time, the gloomy weather that day doing its best to not help. As an ode, I’ve held a lifelong love of chokers, wearing them in ribbon form most especially.
