HERE'S MY DAD

Here’s my dad back in his Navy days! He periodically mentions the time he spilled brass polish all over the- gasp!- captain in a fumble-filled moment on the ship’s stairs. Mortified, my dad was relieved to find that the captain responded by sharing another incident in which he was doused with Tabasco sauce at dinner by a fella who’d lost control of the lid, projecting the liquid across the table in red rain fashion. My dad always impresses upon me the grace he was given and the deep respect that built in him for his superior. Happy Veteran’s Day!
