PART 1 Well, now. I've never soft-boiled an egg before, and this morning, I apparently still hadn't. A gentle thwack to begin removing the shell resulted in KERSPLAT!
PART 2 What's that old elementary school saying- first is worst, second is best? Bring an inch of water to boil, put the egg in the pot, cover, and let it roll for six magic minutes. Steam cooking replaces the lengthy need to heat water enough to cover the egg, so sayeth Google. And flaky salt is a friend!
